Here are some tips from Arthritis Today and the Arthritis Foundation about clothes...
If buttons are difficult, use Velcro. Put the buttons on the top side “for show”, and put Velcro on the bottom side to do the task of fastening.
Instead of using buttons on sleeves, you can use elasticized thread sewn in the button cuffs. The Velcro idea can also be used.
Buy your clothes with the intent that they should be easy to put on and take off and easy to care for. Elastic waistbands should slide easily over the hips. Nowadays, clothes are available for both fashion as well as function.
Zippers and buttons should be in the front and easy to manipulate. A tool called a button hook goes through the button hole and snags the button. This is useful if you want to stick with buttons.
Use zipper pulls. These are attachments that fit onto a zipper and make it easier to use the zipper.
Lower the clothes rod in your closet if you have trouble reaching up.
A long handled shoe horn can help get shoes on and off. Elastic shoelaces, Velcro fasteners and zippers all can be substituted for regular lace ties. Elastic shoes are also available.
A reacher or even a bent coat hanger can help with pulling pants up or getting things that are just out of reach.
Try front closing bras or fasten the bra in front and pull it back in place.
To put on a girdle or panty hose, roll them down from the top to the bottom, step in, and pull them up. Dusting with powder may also be helpful in reducing the friction.
If you plan on traveling to a warm climate, consider using convertible pants. These pants have zippers on the legs and can be converted to shorts and back to long pants very easily.
